Cabrales Potato Gratin

A rich, creamy gratin featuring thinly sliced potatoes layered with heavy cream and bold Cabrales cheese for a decadent side dish.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and butter a baking dish.
  2. Layer potato slices in the dish, seasoning each layer with garlic, salt, pepper, and a portion of grated Cabrales.
  3. Pour heavy cream over the layers and finish with a sprinkle of extra cheese on top.
  4. Bake for 45–50 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
  5. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve hot.

Notes

Heavy cream melds with the pungent Cabrales to form a rich, comforting gratin that highlights the distinctive blue notes of the cheese.
